Ellen
McGowan's award winning sculptures are included in numerous
corporate and private collections throughout the United States
and abroad. In her own words, she "...finds a truly universal
spirit in the ordinary man." This best describes her warm and
empathic approach to expressing life's joys, as well as its
poignancies, in clay, bronze and concrete.
As a child,
McGowan studied at the Art Institute in Chicago. She received
undergraduate and graduate degrees in Fine Arts, with
continued studies at the Memphis College of Art. McGowan also
had further studies with master sculptor Bruno
Lucchesi.
McGowan's
studio is located in Bartlett,
Tennessee. She currently works by commission, and is also
a designer of sculptures for the MidSouth Ornamental Concrete Company.
